The Welcome Place Learning Center is happy to see you! We serve families in Volusia County, Seminole County and surrounding areas.

The Welcome Place was started to provide supplemental and core learning for homeschooled students and families who need or want somewhere else to go to learn and someone else to help with teaching. We have a team of certified teachers with years of experience in education to support our families.

We offer classes, independent study time, tutoring, and a place to go!
​
Every six weeks, we offer a new set of project- based classes where students learn the topics and produce evidence of their learning to take home. We do not use a specific curriculum for our classes, but pull information from a variety of sources to create engaging lessons and projects for the students!

We also offer assessments so we can verify student learning and progress.
My Story
I am Dr. Adrienne Harvie, the owner, founder and director of The Welcome Place!
​
My background is educationally based from top to bottom! For 15 years I was a classroom teacher, both in-person and online teaching English Language Arts to students in grades 6-12. I have time as a tutor/interventionist, working with students with characteristics of dyslexia. At a charter school, I was a literacy interventionist where I ran a reading program for struggling readers and was also a teacher supervisor. For a few years, I was an educational technology consultant delivering professional development for districts and school across the country where I helped them use online educational programs and use the data from these programs to meet the needs of their students.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Teaching; a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Reading; and a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on Educational Technology.
